Chat

The family chat: topics and threads, messages, reactions, custom emoji and stickers, search, and who has read what.

Commands

  • PostArchive a topicchat.conversation.archiveHides a topic from the list.
  • PostMake a topicchat.conversation.createMakes a new topic: a separate named conversation, such as "Summer trip".
  • PostRename a topicchat.conversation.renameChanges a topic's title.
  • PostBring back an archived topicchat.conversation.unarchivePuts an archived topic back in the list.
  • PostRetire a custom emojichat.custom_emoji.archiveStops a custom emoji being newly used; where it was used it still shows.
  • PostAdd a custom emojichat.custom_emoji.createAdds one of the household's own emoji from an uploaded image, used as :name: in messages and as a reaction.
  • PostChange how a topic notifies mechat.follow.setSets how a topic notifies me: all, mentions or none.
  • PostDelete my messagechat.message.deleteThe author deletes their message: its text, attachments, sticker, reactions and mentions go, and it keeps its place as "Message deleted" so replies and its thread still make sense.
  • PostChange the text of my messagechat.message.editThe author replaces their message's text; the last edit wins and the message shows as edited.
  • PostSend a message in a conversation or threadchat.message.sendSends a message in a topic, or in the thread under one of its messages, optionally quoting another message, with up to 10 uploaded files or one sticker.

  • PostMark a conversation read up to a messagechat.read.markMoves my read point in a conversation forward to a message (threads read with their conversation), and marks my chat notifications for it read up to then.
  • PostRetire a stickerchat.sticker.archiveStops a sticker being newly sent; messages that used it still show it.
  • PostAdd a stickerchat.sticker.createAdds a sticker from an uploaded image.
  • PostMove messages into another topicchat.thread.moveMoves messages, with any threads under them, into an existing topic or a new one ("spin this off into its own topic"), keeping their times, and leaves a line where they were saying where they went.

Queries

  • GetThe household's topicschat.conversation.listEvery topic, the main chat first and then by latest message, with how many messages I haven't read in each and how each notifies me.
  • GetMessages around one messagechat.message.contextThe messages just before and after one, in the same place (the conversation itself, or the same thread), in order, with the message itself.
  • GetMessages in a conversation or threadchat.message.listA page of a conversation's own messages (not those inside threads; each message says how many replies its thread has), or of one thread's messages, oldest first within the page.
  • GetFind messageschat.message.searchMessages whose text has every word of the search, each as the start of a word, ignoring case and accents, newest first, with a snippet, the topic and a link.
